Kalimantan Timur, provinsi yang ditetapkan sebagai ibu kota baru Indonesia, mengalami kebakaran hutan dan lahan [Karhutla]. Bagaimana kondisinya? Kepala Seksi Pengendalian Kerusakan dan Pengamanan Dinas Kehutanan Kalimantan Timur [Kaltim], Shahar Al Haqq, mengatakan, sejak Agustus 2019, Karhutla sudah melanda beberapa wilayah Kalimantan Timur.
Puncaknya, awal September 2019, penanganannya terus dilakukan dengan pemadaman. Pemerintah Provinsi Kaltim memastikan dapat menangani Karhutla. Wakil Gubernur Kalimantan Timur, Hadi Mulyadi, memerintahkan pemadaman api secara cepat dan tanggap pada Dinas Kehutanan dan BPBD. Menurut dia, upaya pemadaman tidak pernah berhenti dilakukan.
Namun bukan hanya Kalimantan saja yang terjadi kebakaran, di Riau pun juga mengalami kebakaran hutan. Kalimantan dan Riau setiap tahunnya pasti terjadi kebakaran hutan, disana udaranya panas sehingga menjadi salah satu alasan para oknum (orang pribadi atau perusahaan) untuk melakukan pembakaran lahan.
Yang menjadi oknum pembakaran adalah mereka yang lahannnya terbakar karena mereka berpikir bahwa perluasan lahan dengan melakukan pembakaran itu akan mempercepat dan meminimalisir biaya. Menurut teori terdapat dua penyebab terjadinya hal tersebut yaitu faktor internal dan factor eksternal. Factor internalnya merupakan tindakan tidak etis, sedangkan faktor ekternalnya adalah karena hal tersebut didukung dengan berbau kepentingan pribadi.
Salah satu yang menjadi penyebab kebakaran tersebut meluas adalah adanya angin muson. Dari pantauan pesawat, area kebakaran hanya di luar wilayah kelapa sawit. Karena yang menjadi oknum dari kebakaran ini adalah yang memiliki kelapa sawit. Mereka ingin memperluas lahan mereka untuk ditanami kelapa sawit dengan cara melakukan pembakaran.
Akar kuat dan pohon yang besar merupakan salah satu alasan mereka melakukan pembakaran, karena cara tersebut merupakan alternative yang hemat dan cepat. Mayoritas perusahaan yang ada di Kalimantan dan Riau dimiliki oleh orang luar negeri. Jadi mereka mementingkan perusahaannya sendiri tanpa memperhatikan lingkungan di sekitarnya.
Salah satu perusahaan Malaysia ikut terlibat dalam kebakaran tersebut. Ketika Malaysia menawarkan bantuan akan tetapi Indonesia menolak hal tersebut dikarenakan hal tersebut dianggap sebagai sebuah penghinaan. Namun, jika memang tidak bisa mengatasi ,asalah tersebut, maka lebih baik terima saja bantuan dari pihak luar. Dan seharusnya perusahaan yang melakukan pembakaran harus bertanggung jawab atas kejadian tersebut.
