Tepat pada tanggal 1 Mei 2019 tarif ojek online (ojol) meningkat. Kenaikan tarif ojol ini berpedoman pada Keputusan Menteri Perhubungan Nomor 348 Tahun 2019. Ada beberapa hal yang sangat disayangkan dengan adanya kenaikan tarif ini.

Kenaikan tarif yang dinilai terlalu tinggi oleh masyarakat juga memberikan dampak yang cukup signifikan bagi driver ojol. Padahal awalnya respon masyarakat sebagai pelanggan ojol sangat baik atas pelayanan termasuk harga yang ditetapkan oleh ojek online. Namun dengan adanya kenaikan tarif, masyarakat merasa keberatan dengan ketentuan tersebut sehingga jumlah orderan yang diterima oleh driver pun menurun hingga 75% dari hari-hari biasanya.

Hal ini banyak membuat masyarakat beralih dari transportasi online menjadi moda transportasi umum karena tarif ojol yang dianggap masyarakat lebih mahal. Kenaikan tarif ojol tentunya menggerus manfaat adanya transportasi yang berbasis internet ini.

Berdasarkan survei yang dilakukan oleh Research Institute of Socio-Economic Development (RISED) pada 3000 pelanggan ojek online di Indonesia atas 3 zona bahwa kenaikan tarif ojek online mempengaruhi pengeluaran pelanggan setiap harinya. Seperti yang diketahui bahwa komponen tarif angkutan menyumbang nilai yang cukup berpengaruh terhadap inflasi.

Kenaikan tarif yang bertujuan untuk menyamakan pendapatan ojol seperti tarif minimal Rp. 2.000 per kilo memunculkan banyak pro dan kontra dari berbagai kalangan. Sebenarnya adanya kenaikan tarif ojol merupakan hal yang wajar seiring dengan meningkatnya harga-harga kebutuhan pokok serta biaya sewa aplikasi.

Kenaikan tarif yang mencapai hingga 20% digadang-gadang dapat memicu kenaikan inflasi mencapai 20 hingga 30%, apalagi masyarakat Indonesia merupakan tipe pelanggan yang konsumtif. Ditambah lagi kenaikan tarif ojol ini bertepatan sebelum bulan Ramadhan yang mana inflasi cenderung meningkat saat bulan Ramadhan dan Hari Raya Idul Fitri karena meningkatnya permintaan masyarakat  akan kebutuhan sandang pangan.

Momentum kenaikan tarif ojol yang kurang tepat dapat menyebabkan inflasi meningkat. Kebutuhan pokok masyarakat yang selalu meningkat pada bulan Ramadhan hingga Hari Raya Idul Fitri dikhawatirkan akan menyebabkan terjadinya peningkatan kebutuhan pokok secara terus menerus.

Oleh karena itu, pemerintah harus benar-benar memperhatikan momentum yang tepat untuk menaikkan tarif ojek online untuk menghindari terjadinya peningkatan inflasi. Selain itu sistem pembagian tarif berdasarkan zona yang dibentuk harus lebih diperhatikan mengingat upah minimum rakyat disetiap daerah berbeda-beda.
